Cosmetic Dental Services
Having a great smile is extremely important in today’s mobile world and Dr. Ki's and Dr. Allen's experienced staff can help you get the smile you have been dreaming about. We offer a number of cosmetic services to improve your smile, whether you want whiter teeth or teeth that simply look perfect.
Teeth Whitening
Everyone wants whiter teeth. Teeth that are bright and white give you more confidence in social and business situations. Furthermore, they can actually encourage you to have healthier habits and make you feel better about yourself, raising your self-esteem. We offer two forms of teeth whitening methods that you can do at home and explain the process to you so that you feel comfortable with it.
- Custom trays – Our custom trays are fitted to your teeth to give you optimum results in your teeth whitening experience.
- Professional strength whitening strips – These strips are similar to the strips that you can buy at your local drug store but they come with a professional strength which ensures that you are going to get teeth that are white.
Porcelain Veneers
Maybe you have a couple of chipped teeth, an odd shaped tooth, or teeth that are overly large. Whatever your teeth’s aesthetic issue, we can apply porcelain veneers, which are a thin protective covering, to your teeth, giving them a polished look and hiding unsightly problems. Veneers can be made from different materials but we use porcelain because it is considered the best material and has the longest lifespan. Some people have been able to get 10 years out of their porcelain veneers.
Many people prefer using veneers because they look like natural teeth – only you know that they are veneers. They resist stains, can actually straighten a tooth that has become crooked, and are comfortable to wear. Our dentists can help you determine whether you are a good candidate for veneers.
Bondings/White Fillings
Older dentistry often used “silver” amalgam fillings but these can interfere with the beauty of your smile. We can replace those old fillings with white filling, which is mixed in a process to match the color of your tooth, thereby hiding the restorative material and giving your tooth a natural appearance. An advantage of using white filling is that it bonds with your tooth, making it a permanent part of the tooth whereas “silver” fillings will eventually crumble and can pop out, leaving your tooth at risk of further damage from bacteria.
Bonding is another restorative material that we can use to fix issues such as cracks, chips, gaps, and misshaped teeth. Because bonding can be mixed in color to match your teeth, it has a natural appearance and will improve the appearance of your smile without being too noticeable. Your friends may notice that something is different, but won’t be able to tell what has changed.
NOTE - You should take into consideration that bonding is a more fragile material than other cosmetic options. It has been known to crack if you tend to grind your teeth at night. If you smoke, drink coffee, or use other staining products, your bonding may become discolored over time.
Zirconia crowns and bridges
Crowns are used to protect teeth that have been the subject of a root canal or may have become damaged in some way. In the past, crowns were created with a metal base—usually gold or stainless steel—and did not have the ability to match the other teeth around it, leaving it to stand out. However today, new advancements in crown making have resulted in the use of zirconia and porcelain.
Zirconia, or zirconia oxide, is a powder that is white in appearance but when it is mixed, it has the same strength for the crown as metal. Porcelain has a translucent ability, making it a good replacement for teeth enamel. Together, the two materials are used to create a crown that looks like your other teeth and functions like a regular tooth.
The same technology is also being applied to bridges, which makes them more comfortable to wear. Patients like them because the hot/cold sensations, generally associated with bridges, are eliminated and they can be easily shaped to blend more naturally with the other teeth.
Orthodontics
Dr. Ki and Dr. Allen work with a number of qualified and experienced orthodontists to help you correct visual problems such as teeth that are not aligned correctly, crowding, and even gaps. Together, we can help you decide what option is the best choice for you and give you a beautiful smile to last a lifetime.
